| 98 | A reader reports that the Hay River to Chinchaga can be paddled in about 4 hours to cover 31 km or so. The put-in is actually found on the bridge east of the put-in we have marked. At the Chinchaga confluence, there is a point and sand bar that you can camp at complete with an outhouse. Fishing is good also at certain times and portaging around difficult sports is difficult due to the muddy banks. The river does not run very fast and the biggest rapids are found around the 24km mark. Even these can be run by a beginner kayaker. | 2009 |
